The struggle between good and evil sets the stage for this Baroque program of music that includes works by Telemann, Dowland, Veracini, Marais, and others. Whether a fall from grace or an opportunity for redemption, Amethyst Baroque members Adrin Akins (countertenor), Jody Miller (recorder), Marcy Jean Brenner (viola da gamba), and Alexandra Dunbar (harpsichord), take the listener through music depicting the conflict—at least according to composers of the 17th and 18th centuries.

About Amethyst Baroque
Amethyst Baroque Ensemble, named for the official state gem of Georgia, was formed by Co-Directors Dr. Alexandra Snyder Dunbar (harpsichord) and Jody Miller (recorder). Their offical debut as a duo was sightreading recorder sonatas at a music shop in 2018. The following spring, Adrin Akins (countertenor) and Marcy Jean Brenner (viola da gamba) joined the ensemble as core members for Amethyst's debut concert of Italian Baroque music. Claiming Atlanta and Athens as the ensemble's dual homebases, Amethyst performs regularly in both cities and has appeared on multiple concert series.
