Music of the Italian Baroque
March 30, 2019, at 7:00 PM
Morningside Presbyterian Church
1411 N Morningside Drive NE
Atlanta, Georgia 30306
Amethyst Baroque Ensemble makes its concert debut with this program of Italian music. From the meeting of the Florentine Camerata, which helped usher in a new style of music composition, to the middle of the 18th century, which provided us some of the most iconic works of the period, Italy gave us some of our most treasured composers. Alexandra Dunbar (harpsichord), Jody Miller (recorder), Adrin Akins (countertenor), and Marcy Brenner (viola da gamba), recreate performances of these chamber works on period instruments. Suggested donations accepted at the door: $20 general; $10 student, senior, and members of AEMA/ARS. No one turned away!
This concert follows the Lauda Musicam of Atlanta PlayDate, an afternoon music reading session conducted by Phil Hollar, recorder teacher and performer from Greensboro, NC. Make a day of the music!
